Article: Set Your Mind On The Things Above

Set Your Mind On The Things Above

Set Your Mind On The Things Above

How can we set our minds on things above? Continue reading to find out 5 ways on how to set your mind on the things above!

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honour at God's right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all His glory.
– Colossians 31:1-4

Setting Your Mind On The Things Above The Project J Christian Blog Bible Verses Encouragement

1. Be Aware of Your Thoughts

Your emotions, trials, and earthly circumstances can drive your thoughts, but the Bible says to keep our focus on heavenly things. God's request requires us to remain spiritually-minded to be obedient. We must choose to let go of our earthly mindset and look towards heaven in all situations.

2. Be Fed with God's Word Daily

Without a daily focus on Scripture, it is easy to stay stuck in an earthly mindset. God's way is not the same as the earthly ways – Scripture encourages us with truths to overcome our desires to stay connected to worldly thinking and to constantly be aware of our choice to be spiritually minded.

3. Choose to Follow God's Guidance

God's ways and His wisdom are bigger than you and the way you think. Trust Him, choose to listen to Him, and seek His favour. If you hear the instructions God provides and chooses to do things your way, your mind is not set on the things above.

4. Be Ready for the Enemy

The enemy is the father of lies, and he will stop at nothing to convince you to take your mind off of the things above. Be ready for the enemy, and always pray against his schemes to tempt you in listening to your voice, thoughts, and desires instead of God's.

5. Let Go of Your Old Self

The new has come, and the old is gone. In Christ, your old self is dead. Your thoughts and emotions should be on God – He is the source of good in your life. As you move forward in your new life in Christ, look to Him for direction and wisdom on how to conduct your new life. ◡̈
