Article: Be The Light In Your Workplace

Be The Light In Your Workplace

Be The Light In Your Workplace

As Singaporeans, we spend most of our day at work, yes? And since we are going to be good witnesses for Christ, being the Light in our workplace would definitely be a natural place to start, wouldn't it?

So, how exactly do we do it?

Be the Light in your workplace The Project J Projecting Jesus Gospel Love Others

1. Affirm your colleagues.

Yes, it's easy to recognise laziness or incompetence in others. But how often do you go out of your way to recognise the positive impact of another person's work? Do you recognise any strengths in your colleagues that you've been working with? Learn to pick up on small details and affirm your colleagues to encourage and lift them up.

2. Appreciate and talk about the things you are thankful for.

Complaining may be one of the easiest conversation starters, but why not vocalise your gratitude instead? Practising thankfulness and gratitude will contribute to a more positive work environment, it also helps our minds to count and thank God for the blessings that He has blessed us with.

3. Assist your colleagues.

Do you know how impactful it can be if we use some of that precious non-work time to serve the people we work with every day? Let us go the extra mile to show God's love to our colleagues by serving them with our time whenever possible.

4. Pray for your colleagues.

Your colleagues have their own personal lives and struggles too. Just because someone may appear fine on the surface, doesn't mean that person has it all together underneath. Offer to pray for your colleague, for the greatest help one could receive is from God Himself. In the same Spirit that Jesus prayed for those who persecuted Him, let's look around and pray diligently that they may all come to know our beloved Jesus.

5. Build a relationship with your colleague.

Yes, boundaries may be important, but that doesn't mean that a relationship can't be formed. There are still plenty of work-friendly and appropriate ways to be more social with our colleagues! Make time to socialise with your colleagues, create that space to build more than surface deep relationships! ◡̈

Let us be the ones to share Jesus' light in all that we do!
