Article: Declare Your Way Into A Year Of Freedom

Declare Your Way Into A Year Of Freedom

Declare Your Way Into A Year Of Freedom

How can we declare our way into a year of freedom?

declare /dɪˈklɛː/ verb

  1. say something in a solemn and emphatic manner.

What we say (declare) to ourselves, and others everyday will eventually become a belief system in our minds. Our words create our worlds - the narrative of our lives. Tell a child how stupid they are everyday, and they grow up believing that they are stupid and useless. Tell a child how loved they are, they grow up secure and confident. The same principle applies to adults. If your partner often tells you how fat you are, how long do you think it will take for you to hate your body and believe that you can only be loved if you were skinny?

Declaring works both ways. Whether we declare positive or negative words over ourselves or others, we eat of its fruit (Proverbs 18:21). Life and death are in the power of the tongue.

In Psalm 4:4, the Hebrew meaning for the word ‘meditate’ means to
say frequently. The same Hebrew meaning applies to the word ‘said’ in the verse, ‘God said “Let there be light.”’

What we say matters. What we say
frequently matters. When the Bible says to meditate on God’s Word, it also means to say it frequently. To keep saying, to keep reminding ourselves of His Truth, because what we say frequently will become a reality.

God
said ‘Let there be light.’ And there was light. God said (meditate: say frequently), God declared, and it was.

By frequently putting His Truth on our lips, we are building a fortress of Truth in our minds. This fortress will allow us to withstand the fiery arrows of lies and accusations that the enemy throws at us. When our minds are so filled with whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, praiseworthy, and excellent (Phil 4:8), we have no more room for the lies and negative words spoken over us.

If you've been tormented by the negative thoughts and destructive words that others have spoken over you, this is a good year to start re-writing the narrative of your life.

If you've not been speaking words of life to yourself and others, this is a good year to start a new conversation.

Try it out. Declare His Truth over yourself and your loved ones daily. Test it and know that God’s promises are always yes and amen. Let His Truth, promises, and words wash over you and renew the way you think, act, speak, and feel!

What are some truths that you declare daily? What are your personal thoughts and testimony on declaring His promises? Share with us in the comments below!
