Loving Yourself The Way God Loves You
Loving Yourself The Way God Loves You
Do you struggle with loving yourself? Do you struggle with low self-image and feelings of negative self-worth?
If you do, please stay with us. The Lord wants to heal your heart today ◡̈
God sees how hard you are trying to be loving, kind and helpful. He understands that you will fail at all of these things – we all do! But yet, dear child of God, He still loves you.
You shall love your neighbour as yourself.
– Mark 12:31
God's love for you is not contingent upon perfection. Hence, you don't need to expect perfection from yourself. In 1 John 4:10, the Bible tells us what love is – "Not what we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."
It's not about our love for God, it's about His love for us. Now, can you look at yourself — flaws and all — and say, "I love me because God loves me enough to send His only beloved Son to die on the cross for me."?
God isn't here to condemn you. No, He will never do that. He is always actively working for your good. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him..
– John 3:16-17
Hold on to His goodness when you're tempted to condemn yourself.
You are a child of God, and He loves you no matter what. He wants you to see yourself the way He sees you. Begin to look at yourself with the eyes of God, think the thoughts of God. hear with the ears of God, and feel with the heart of God.
During your quiet time with God, start to ask Him these questions:
• Lord, what talents did You put in me?
• Lord, what do You love about me?
• Lord, what do You cherish about my heart?
• Lord, what do I do that pleases You?
Stop and be still. Listen to His voice and write down what He said. Meditate on what He said. Think about what He said. And most importantly, receive what He said.
It takes time in His presence, listening to and receiving from Him, to start seeing yourself the way He sees you.
Is the Lord challenging you to change the way you treat yourself, think about yourself, and love yourself – to line these things up with how He feels about you?
